Protégé (GMA 7) First Elimination: Rosalyn Said Goodbye

The Protégés' performances on the elimination night were all good but, in general, their performances on the gala night were a lot better. Perhaps, due to the emotions na lahat sila ay kabado, they were not able to deliver perfectly the songs that their hometown fans chose for them. Their song choices were more difficult to interpret compared to the songs they did on the gala night. I expected much from their performances but was disappointed. Thanks to Nomer who did a very good job and made that night entertaining.
  1. Nomer, above the rest, rendered a good performance. He was relaxed and seemed to enjoy what he was doing. The rest of the protégés should learn from Nomer if they want to deliver a good performance. Nomer is a performer; not just a singer. And, he has the best diction of all.
  2. Jensen did well for her rendition of "Footprints in the Sand". She reflects that she really wanted to win and serious about her rehearsals.
  3. Krizza's performance last week was a lot better than last night. I think she was too focused about her moves that it didn't come out naturally. Performing "Super Bass" allowed her to show that she could sing any song. It's sad that she was part of the bottom two.
  4. Kenneth's performance was a lot better compared to his performance on the gala night. JayR's method of training Kenneth which is singing while working out made Kenneth's vocal more amplified.
  5. Samantha performed "Someone Like You". Her performance last week was a lot better. It is obvious, like all the rest, that she was pressured about the elimination. But that's the challenge - how to perform well despite the pressure.
  6. SoWat performed "My Immortal". Ermund Regacion sounded like he failed to hit correctly the first note or maybe, he was too far from the microphone. The first note is very, very important. If it sounded bad, the rest of the notes would follow. So when Janina's turn to follow, she sounded out of tune. I think it is more difficult to rehearse as a group. Therefore, a day's rehearsal is not enough. They have to consider that their group was very young being formed only for Protégé.
  7. Lovely performed "Total Eclipse of the Hearth" by Bonnie Tyler. Her performance was a big improvement. Except for a few words, her English diction improved.
  8. Denise's hometown fans chose a difficult song for her. There were some pitchy notes but overall she did just right considering the difficulty of the song.
  9. Lirah did "Price Tag" not quite extra-ordinarily. Though she wasn't out of tune, her performance was just simple and average.
  10. Rosalyn sang Beyonce's "Listen". Last week, she had a cold that her voice sounded too nasal and blocked. Last night, she still sounded too nasal and every word she sang was not audible. She should have worked on her diction especially the words with the "o" and "a" sounds. For example, she would sound "am mall alaun in craus raud" instead of "I'm all alone in crossroad". Malikot din siyang kumanta. Her hand moves were all over the places.

Rosalyn of the Bicol Region, Imelda Papin's Protégé Said Adieu

Rosalyn is the first Protégé to be eliminated. Receiving a lot of encouragement from her mentor Imelda Papin, the former Jukebox Queen promised to include her in her concerts including those she will do in the United State of America. Lucky for Rosalyn. Indeed, Protégé paved way to a big break.

Hating Kapatid: GMA Network's Short Film For Christmas

"Hating Kapatid" is a touching short film about two brothers who share the same pair of shoes and socks when going to school. One attends classes in the morning; the other in the afternoon. They meet in one store owned by an old woman where they exchange their footwear.

Endless Love - A Filipino Adaptation of Autumn in My Heart

Courtesy pinoyhalo.com "Autumn in My Heart" is a Korean TV series. When GMA Network aired it on Philippine TV, it started a trend. Pinoys went gaga over Koreanovelas. GMA renamed the characters as Jenny, Johnny, and Andrew. The three Korean stars became popular in their character names rather than in their Korean screen names. GMA7 also gave it a new title - "Endless Love" - for the reason that there's no autumn in the Philippines. Today premieres once again Autumn in my Heart aka Endless Love but this time as a Filipino adaptation starring Marian Rivera, Dingdong Dantes, and Dennis Trillo. Three superstars in one show! It's surely a hit. If I were to rewrite some scenes in Autumn In My Heart In general, I enjoyed the pilot episode of Autumn In My Heart. I particularly like the scene where young Johnny and Jenny ride their bicycles on a long brick road fenced with bougainvilla bushes. I give praise to whoever found that place. The school location w

"Mahal Kita"

Here's another favorite song. "Mahal Kita", which means "I love you" was composed by Danny Tan. The original version was sung by Gerald Santos, Pinoy Pop Superstar grand champion of 2006. The female version was sung by Maricris Garcia, Pinoy Pop Superstar grand champion of 2007. The song is included in Gerald's first album "A Day on the Rainbow". The song is currently the love theme song of "Marimar", a Philippine remake of the Mexican tele-novela with the same title. In the Philippine version, Marian Rivera plays Marimar; Dingdong Dantes plays the the role of Sergio Santibanez. In Marimar, the female version is a response to the male version of the song. In dramatic scenes that focus on either Marimar's (Marian) or Sergio's (Dingdong) emotions, you'll either hear Gerald's or Maricris's version. "Marimar" is currently showing weeknights on GMA Channel 7. Here's Gerald's version of "Mahal Kita&q
