Pacquiao cum ABS-CBN vs Solar cum GMA

Background

Manny Pacquiao recently expressed his desire to air his fight with Hatton on ABS-CBN; thus, intended to terminate his promotion group's contract with Solar. As a result of that, the Paguiao-Hatton fight will be aired on ABS-CBN instead of on GMA. According to the official statement of GMA aired in the news, ABS-CBN promised Pacquiao to make him win from the coming congressional elections if he would give to ABS-CBN the right to air his fight. In the same statement, it stated that GMA did not make any similar offer because it was against the law for a media network to help any political candidate win the elections.

Yesterday, representatives of Solar Network flew to LA to talk with Pacquiao. As of this writing, the legal representative of Pacquiao issued a statement that his promotion's contract with Solar was still binding, thus, the fight would be aired on GMA7. Pacquiao apologized to the public for the confusion that was brought about by the misunderstanding between him and Solar.

Opinion

In any competition, one snaky move of a competitor is to destroy its competitor's good relationship with its customers or clients. Any means to implement that action, whether genuine or intentionally strategic, just becomes a camouflage. In the end, whether the move materialized or not, it is considered a success because everybody loses except the one who made the snaky move.

The airing of the Pacquiao-Hatton fight on GMA will push through as agreed upon. Involved parties have sat down and settled the issue like true gentlemen. However, Pacquiao's public image is now tainted. Even if the airing did not push through on ABS-CBN, the harm has been done. Pacquiao's good relationship with Solar, GMA, the voting public, and the viewing public, especially those loyal to GMA, is no longer solid. Good thing, and I'm glad he did, Pacquiao made a public apology. That humble move redeemed himself.

Moral Story

What you sow is what you reap. That's a divine law. In any endeavor, it's a golden rule that whatever you plant must be a good seed. A bad seed does not bear good fruit. If a relationship involves a contract, reviewing the contract is a wise move before making any action. Communicating like a true gentleman with the parties in the contract before planning any other action is worth doing because that is ethically correct. Should things go wrong, an action of humility or any other good virtue will be everyone's redemption.

Dyesebel Learns the Truth

Week 2 Episodes The next episodes after the first week were not as exciting as the first few days. In a few words, I can give you the synopsis. Dyesebel was able to save Fredo and hid him inside a cave. Bukanding (Paolo Ballesteros), her foster brother, persuaded her to go home for fear of the queen's punishment. Back to the cave, they found out that Fredo was bitten by a sea snake. Dyesebel left to look for cure. While she was gone, Berbola found Fredo inside the cave. She, too, fell in love with Fredo. In Sireneya, the queen learned about mermaids swimming up to the shore (which is forbidden). The queen had them hunted. Erebus (Alfred Vargas) warned Dyesebel and Bukanding that they were able to leave the cave and went to a shore where Fredo recovered. Berbola pointed at Dyesebel as the mermaid who violated the law. Dyesebel was sentenced to death; but Erebus told the queen that Berbula, too, was guilty of the same crime. The queen could not sentence her daughter Berbula to death....

Hating Kapatid: GMA Network's Short Film For Christmas

"Hating Kapatid" is a touching short film about two brothers who share the same pair of shoes and socks when going to school. One attends classes in the morning; the other in the afternoon. They meet in one store owned by an old woman where they exchange their footwear.
